Watcher (Aramaic עִיר iyr, plural עִירִין iyrin, IPA ʕiːr(iːn); Theodotian trans: ir; from the root of Heb. `er, "awake, watchful"; Greek: ἐγρήγοροι, transl.: egrḗgoroi; Slav transliteration, Grigori, "Watchers", "those who are awake"; "guard", "watcher") is a term used in connection with biblical angels. Watcher occurs in both plural and singular forms in the Book of Daniel (4th-2nd century BC), where reference is made to their holiness. The apocryphal Books of Enoch (2nd-1st centuries BC) refer to both good and bad Watchers, with a primary focus on the rebellious ones.

два стрелочника получили в свою будку одновременно две телеграммы: что поезд А задерживается, а поезд Б идет с опережением расписания ровно таким образом, что они встретятся в одной точке одновременно. стрелочники начинают в панике бегать туда-сюда, рвать на себе волосы, кричать. 

за пять минут до неотвратимого столкновения один уходит в домик, возвращается с сигаретой и двумя бутылками пива. 

первый, думая, что товарищ уже свихнулся, спрашивает в ужасе: 

- ты чего?!

- держи, - второй протягивает ему бутылку пива, - сделать ты уже ничего не можешь, но пропустить такое нельзя.
